8 ON YOUR SIDE: BMW is telling the owners of nearly 200,000 of its vehicles to park away from buildings because their vehicles might catch fire.

BMW says there’s a problem with the engine starter. The problem also affects about 1,500 Toyota Supras.

Owners are being asked to park outdoors and away from buildings until a free repair can be made.

CBS News reports that BMW is recalling certain 2019-2021 BMW 330i, 2019-2022 BMW Z4, 2020-2022 BMW 530i, X3, X4, Toyota Supra, 2021-2022 BMW 430i, 430i Convertible, and 2022 BMW 230i vehicles.

Letters are scheduled to be sent to owners starting November 14 to inform them of the issue.

Owners can also contact BMW’s U.S. customer service line directly at 1-800-525-7417 with questions.
