Construction underway to renovate Selma public housing complex

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

A Selma public housing complex destroyed by a 2023 tornado — is now being renovated.

Waka Rangedaleannex1003 VoRangedale Annex has been gated off — and contractors are working to renovate the property. Over 40 units were damaged by the EF-2 tornado.

The residents who lived there had to be relocated to other properties. Housing officials say all units will be completely gutted and renovated.

“Anytime we have units that are completely renovated, you don’t have to worry about those extra repairs to it,” said Selma Housing Authority COO Cicely Curtis.

“So, we’re super excited to have the contractors working at Rangedale Annex completely gutting those out and getting them ready.”

Curtis say the project will help address the on-going housing shortage in Selma.
