A Montgomery native has just received U.S. Senate confirmation to an important federal judgeship.
Attorney Harold “Hal” Mooty has been confirmed as federal district judge for the Northern District of Alabama.
Above is a photo of him, standing third from the right, with his family, along with Alabama U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt.
Despite the battles over the government shutdown, Senator Britt said Mooty’s confirmation vote of 66 to 32 received the most bipartisan support of any judicial nominee so far in the 119th Congress.
She thanked President Trump for nominating him for this judgeship.
The Northern District of Alabama covers Birmingham and areas in the northern part of the state.
