Pike Road welcomes new McDonald’s restaurant

After months of construction, McDonald’s has now opened in Pike Road.

The restaurant, which is near the corner of Vaughn and Pike roads, opened at 10:30 this morning for its first customers after holding a soft opening earlier this week.

People were already lined up to be one of the first 50 customers through their doors and drive-through to receive a gift box of 52 “Be Our Guest” cards for free meal.

Beverly Addison was the first customer at the new McDonald’s and says it’s a great thing that shows growth in a safe place for kids to go in Pike Road.

“If they have children, children are the future, kids need a place to go. Kids need a safe place to go. So if you believe in children that they are the future, than you believe in growth. This is growth, let’s grow,” Addison told Action 8 News.

Eddie Byrd, the director of marketing for franchisee Murphy Family Restaurants, says this is a historic achievement for our area.

“This is history in the making for folks here in Pike Road. It’s been 15 years since a new McDonald’s has been built from the ground up, and we are excited that it’s right here in Pike Road, Alabama,” he said.

The new McDonald’s is part of the larger Merry Corners Center shopping center development, which is still under construction.
