Montgomery church contributing to the fight against cancer

Montgomery’s New Hope Missionary Baptist Church is contributing to the fight against cancer.

The church is raising money for those who are battling cancer. They’ve had many donations from members of the church and the surrounding community.

All the money raised will be donated to the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama in Montgomery.

We had the chance to talk to the chairwoman who led the church’s efforts, who is also a cancer survivor herself, and how her journey has prepared her for this time.

“Eventually, I got to the point where I made up in my mind and I went and they started helping me, and I appreciate that,” Earnestine Hinkle said. “And that’s what I want to do because I know there is somebody out there that needs some assistance today and tomorrow and the next day, and I want to be a part of it. I just want to say, ‘Hey trust in God,’ because as Hebrews Chapter 13:5 says, ‘He will never leave you or forsake you and stay strong and be encouraged.'”

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church will hold a check presentation for the Cancer Wellness Foundation next Wednesday.
