Tallassee police make murder arrest

Tallassee police have arrested a man after a fatal shooting.

According to court records, 39-year-old Robert Andrew Smith of Tallassee has been charged with murder in the death of 29-year-old Kenneth Lamar Spencer.

Records show the shooting happened just after midnight on Friday, October 31, in the 300 block of Second Avenue.

Police found Spencer with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Tallassee Community Hospital where he died.

Court records show Smith was taken into custody at the scene. He is being held in the Elmore County Detention Facility pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
