Pike Road Schools collect items for local food bank
Pike Road Schools are helping struggling families with a one day donation drive.
All four school campuses in the Town of Pike Road collected donations Tuesday for its “One Day Food Drive.”
Parents, families and community members were invited to participate.
Officials with the school system say they wanted to help their local families and students during the busy holiday season, especially with the recent pause of SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown.
All of the food items collected were donated to the Woodland Church Food Pantry, which helps serve the community.
