City of Georgiana Elects their First Ever Female Mayor

Since its inception in 1855 the city of Georgiana has only had male mayoral leaders until now.
Georgiana’s first female mayor is wrapping up her first week in office and Mayor Bonner is sharing her journey to becoming mayor of the small South Alabama town.
Bonner, a Georgiana resident born and raised, started her journey to see her children and grandchildren remain rooted in a town with possibilities.

With that passion in tow Nina Bonner is now taking on a job that no woman in her hometown has ever taken on before.

With the help of a solid city council, dedicated community leaders and a hard working municipal team working alongside her, Mayor Bonner is ready to bring her vision for Georgiana to fruition.

Hoping to grow Georgiana’s current population of an estimated 1200 people and adding to economic opportunities left in motion by previous mayor Frank Betterton including a new truck stop with restaurants and retail.

Mayor Bonner believes that the office of serving is a Heaven sent priviedge and  feels that she can do all things, including accomplish all her goals for the city, with help from the Lord.
