Winter-Like Cold Overnight!
It feels like winter has arrived early this year! Some of the coldest air so far this fall is settling over us tonight into Tuesday. We’re heading into record low territory overnight. We could start out in the mid to upper 20s early Tuesday morning. Fortunately, this is a brief coldsnap and temps are warming nicely by the mid point of the week.
Temps will take a plunge and drop steadily through the night. We’re at or below the freezing mark by 10pm. The rest of the night will be clear and the winds relax. This will allow temps to continue falling and we’re in the mid 20s around sunrise. We expect widespread frost to form, so hopefully you have taken care of those tender plants and made sure your outdoor plumbing is ready to handle the cold. After a very cold start, we see temps climbing into the mid 50s during Tuesday afternoon. Another cold night is ahead as temps drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s Wednesday morning.
The cold air will be long gone by Thursday and that’s when temps start out in the 40s and warm into the 70s by the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies and warmer southerly winds will support a warming trend that will continue through the rest of the work week and upcoming weekend. Mid to upper 70s are likely both Saturday and Sunday.
A frontal system will begin to make a run at the state early next week. Moisture will be on the increase and we’re introducing the chance of rain late Sunday. We expect rain chances to increase as the front works through the area Monday into Tuesday.
