The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has cut the ribbon on its new substation at the Shoppes at EastChase.

As Action 8 News has reported, the substation is near Books-a-Million and the Build-a-Bear Workshop.

Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham says the substation will be a space for all law enforcement. Officers won’t always be in uniform, but sometimes in plain clothes. He says they’ll always on the premises somewhere.

“It’s not just about the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office,” Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham said. “It’s about us in law enforcement — from the Montgomery Police Department to ALEA to the U.S. Marshals, ATF the FBI, our local universities, this is a hub for law enforcement.”

The Shoppes at EastChase Senior Manager Richard Holman says the partnership with law enforcement is priceless for tenants, merchants and the customers. The Shoppes at EastChase donated $10,000 to the sheriff’s office.

The owner of the Shoppes at EastChase was in Montgomery from Houston, Texas, for this special event. Dr. Ishnella Azad, MD , who is the co-founder of 5 Rivers CRE, LLC, said she wants the people in Montgomery to know of the value of this shopping center.

“We must work together — commerce must work, business must work with law enforcement because unless we work together, there is no safety for our families to do more business and to live a good life together, so we at 5 Rivers are committed to creating respite and islands of safety, security, happiness and well-being for our families and our communities.”
