PETA ruffles feathers with Thanksgiving protest

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and while some people are thinking about the usual feast, an rights activist group PETA is providing an alternative route this year.

PETA held a demonstrative protest in downtown Montgomery against eating turkeys on Thanksgiving. Their display presented a PETA supporter dressed in only nude colored shorts lying next to 2 giant turkey carcasses on a life size cutting board. They used this demonstration to drive home their message that people and animals are one and the same. At the protest, PETA activists were passing out pamphlets of alternative vegan recipes for Thanksgiving favorites.

“Humans and turkeys are the same in all the ways that really matter,” stated PETA Campaigner Mason Melito. “We all feel pain, joy, fear, and love and don’t want to be chopped up into tiny pieces and put on the center of a holiday table this year. We’re encouraging everyone to think about how humans and turkeys are the same in the ways that matter and to enjoy only vegan foods this Thanksgiving.”
