Lee County EMA unveils new drone to help during emergency response

The Lee County Emergency Management Agency held a ribbon cutting Friday for its latest tool.

The Skydio X10 Drone allows EMA officials to have significant aerial capability to emergency response efforts.

The drone will be utilized to support a wide range of critical missions, including search and rescue, damage assessments, hazard monitoring, surveillance, and response operations for both natural and man-made disasters.

Officials say the addition of the Skydio X10 enhances Lee County’s readiness and ensures first responders have access to reliable, high-performance technology that supports uninterrupted emergency operations.

The drone was made possible through a $37,000 grant provided by the Lee County Disaster Relief Fund, which is administered by the East Alabama Community Foundation.
