Human remains found in Lee County
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has opened up an investigation after human remains were discovered.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, deputies a call regarding a welfare check on a family member in the 200 block of Lee Road 205 in the Salem community.
Once they arrived, they found what appeared to be human remains of an adult male lying in the yard.
Authorities say the victim appeared to have been there for several months.
Investigators have not released the identity of the person or if foul play was involved.
The remains will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to determine the official cause of death.
