Katie Barton honored for 500 wins with Saint James
It was a special night at the Saint James gymnasium as the Trojans honored girls basketball head coach Katie Barton for recently reaching 500 career wins — more than all the other prior girls basketball coaches combined.
That’s far from the only impressive stat. Barton has never had a losing season and has won at least 14 games every season.
Last year, she led the Trojans to a program-record 34 wins, finishing as state runner-up.
Barton started coaching at St. James out of college. 24 years later, she’s celebrating more than 500 wins — all in the blue and gold.
“This has been my home away from home for 24 years,” Barton said. “My kids have grown up here. I think the majority of our family time is spent up at the school, so to be able to spend it with my Saint James family and be recognized by them, it’s very special.”
