Mid December Thaw Underway!
The mid December thaw is underway! The Arctic air has retreated and we’re on our way to the 60s by Wednesday afternoon,  There could even be a few spots nudging 70 degrees over the next week.
In the meantime, we expect a partly cloudy sky and calm wind overnight. Temps will bottom out in the lower to mid 30s. A partly sunny sky is in store for Wednesday. It looks like mid 60s will be possible for high temps. The warmer air begins to spread and we’re looking at lower to mid 60s by Thursday.  A frontal system will approach the area and help trigger our next opportunity for rain Thursday. Southerly winds will transport gulf moisture and warmer air into the region.  We’re on the backside of the frontal boundary and returning to a sunny sky Friday. The air is a bit colder behind the front and temps will once again drop to around the freezing mark overnight Friday.
Our upcoming weekend is looking fairly mild temperaturewise. We’re expecting mid to upper 60s for highs and lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s.  Another frontal boundary will make a run at the state late Sunday into Monday. This boundary will help generate our next round of rain activity early next week. The rest of the week, including Christmas Day is looking rather mild for December. We should see high temps still climbing into the upper 60s for highs. We’re definitely not expecting a white Christmas around here this year.
