Showers Sunday night, winter cold returns for the rest of this year
Sunday was another warm day across central and south Alabama. After some morning fog mixed out, sunshine helped temperatures surge into the mid and upper 70s during the afternoon. However, winter cold returns this week. It arrives via a cold front moving through our area late Sunday night. In advance of the front, some showers move across our area. Colder air arrives behind the front early Monday morning, with temperatures falling into the 40s.
Sunshine returns Monday, but temperatures only warm into the low 50s at best, with brisk northwest winds upwards of 15 mph and gusts over 20 mph at times. Monday night turns very cold, with lows in the mid 20s. Tuesday looks mostly sunny with highs only in the upper 40s. Tuesday night turns very cold again, with lows in the low 20s.
Temperatures moderate a bit for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. High temperatures range from the mid to upper 50s, with lows in the 30s. Meanwhile, each day looks partly to mostly sunny, so we ring in 2026 on a dry note. Clouds increase Friday, with a chance for rain late Friday into next weekend. Meanwhile, temperatures look a bit milder, with highs in the low 60s and lows in the 40s.
