A Sunny, Breezy, And Cold Thursday Ahead

The rain moves out and the colder air moves into the area tonight.  Thursday will be sunny but breezy and cold.  A quick warm up Friday and then more rain for Friday night into Saturday.  We’re still keeping an eye on the possibility of more precipitation Saturday night into early Sunday.  Model data is giving some mixed signals now but we’re watching with interest.   I will point out that we always watch this a bit closer when really cold air is lurking!

In the meantime, Thursday is looking sunny but rather windy and cold with temps only reaching the lower 40s for highs. You factor in the winds and it will feel more like the mid 30s. Friday is going to start out cold with temps in the lower to mid 20s that morning but we could snag 60 degrees during the afternoon hours.

Heading into the weekend, another area of precipitation will slide through the state late Friday night into early Saturday.  We expect temps to be above freezing and therefore no wintry precipitation threat.   The air mass over us will still be cold with highs around 50 and lows in the 30s.  Saturday night into Sunday morning has a bit more of our attention.  Looks like a wave may move along a frontal boundary to our south.  Cold air will have already spilled into the state and the combination could squeeze out some flurries or even snow showers across South Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.  Let’s see what the model data shows Thursday and we can make a better decision about what we’re up against.

Monday through the middle of next week is looking mainly sunny and continued cold.  Temps will manage the upper 40s to lower 50s for highs and lows still down in the 20s.  Looks like winter is back and it’s sticking around a bit longer this time around.
