Southeast Air Force bases gather in Millbrook for varsity volleyball championship
MILLBROOK, Ala. (WAKA) — Airmen and women from across the Southeast gathered in Millbrook this weekend for a regional volleyball competition aimed at fostering teamwork and camaraderie within the U.S. Air Force.
The Air Force Varsity Volleyball League championship tournament brought teams from 10 Air Force bases to the 17 Springs sports complex, where players competed for a regional title over a two-day span. The bases that competed were Barksdale, Eglin, Hurlburt, Little Rock, MacDill, Maxwell, Moody, Patrick, Robins, and Shaw.
The teams were made up of a mix of active-duty service members, Air National Guard members, reservists and veterans, all united by their service in the Air Force. Montgomery’s Maxwell Air Force Base was among the bases represented in the tournament.
Organizers said the annual competition goes beyond athletics, offering service members an opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the region, strengthen relationships and build morale within the broader Air Force community.
