Authorities in Uniontown are investigating the cause of four fires that happened around town overnight within minutes of each other.

Fire chief John Williams says the structures went up in flames one after another early Tuesday morning.

“That’s very unusual, he said. “Its under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office. We don’t have that many. Not like that.”

Williams says three of the fires were at vacant houses and the other one was at the city’s newly renovated recreation center.

“Gotta be something behind that.” said Perry County resident Joe Williams.  “Someone has to have done something, you know. Four fires like you say, that’s not no coincident.”

Uniontown Police and the Perry County Sheriff’s Office are assisting fire officials with the investigation.
