Evergreen dentist charged with arson, insurance fraud

Dr. Douglas O’Connor, a dentist in Evergreen, faces charges after an explosion at his office, according to the state fire marshal’s office.

The office says O’Conner has been charged with second-degree arson and first-degree insurance fraud. The charges stem from a 10-month investigation of the explosion at his Evergreen office.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Attorney General’s Office and the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.

O’Connor turned himself in on Friday, January 23, and is being held in the Conecuh County Jail, pending bond, according to the fire marshal’s office.
