New Alabama Veterans Resource Center comes to downtown Montgomery
A new Alabama Veterans Resource Center has opened up in downtown Montgomery.
Today was the unveiling of the new building that’s now located at 102 Dexter Avenue. Many people showed up to see the grand opening and hear from multiple speakers, which included Governor Kay Ivey.
They also held a ribbon cutting out front for the opening. The center will not only be a place designated for Montgomery veterans, but it’ll also be a hub for veterans across the state of Alabama.
“This is a one stop shop for veterans, and they’ll come in here with an issue with their service connected disability, or they may need veteran services for their benefits. We don’t serve just the veterans, but their families as well. If they have any homeless issues, we’ll have people here to help them out. If they need a job, we’ll have someone here to help them find a job. Anything that they need, we’re gonna have the resources available for them to find it,” said Commissioner of the Alabama Dept. of Veteran Affairs, Jeffrey Newton.
The grand opening was at 3:00 p.m. today.
