Local Shooting Range Owner to Speak at National Trade Show

Three years ago, Frank Manuel never thought he would be speaking to people about how to own their own gun range.

The Montgomery Indoor Shooting Complex has been in business just over two years.
Owner Frank Manuel says in that time the gun range has grown and business is booming.
Manuel says it started about 4 and half years ago when he began doing a lot of research traveling across the nation visiting other indoor gun ranges.

“During the course of my travels, I learned about the National Shooting Sports Foundation. They helped provide me tons and tons of research material to put together a business plan,” said Manuel.

Manuel says his business plan was turned down by 5 out of 6 lenders. But he says he finally was able to get a loan and help from the small business association.
Now out of 15 thousand shooting ranges in America, Manuel is one of five owners in the country that are African-American.
“I am honored that we did it here in Montgomery. Very proud that Liberty Bank financed it, proud that it has been successful and the community has received it well,” said Manuel.

Now Manuel has been asked by the National Shooting Sports Foundation to come speak at their Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show to actually give lessons to gun enthusiasts on how to start a business.

“I’m very excited about it. It’s really surreal because 3 years ago I was a student sitting in the class. In just 3 very short years later, I’m one of the speakers,” said Manuel.
