Montgomery Police Department mourns death of officer
The Montgomery Police Department has announced the death of a long-time officer.
Montgomery police Lt. Tina McGriff says Corporal David Hathcock has died. He joined the department in January of 2006.
McGriff says, “Hathcock dedicated his life to watch over the city of Montgomery and the citizens that we cherish. On and off-duty, he honored his oath to live a life that was exemplary to all.
“He was courageous calm in the face of danger and honest in thought and deed. Although his watch ended on February 22, 2026, his legacy will live on in us each day as we continue to serve with honor and integrity.
“We ask that you please keep his family and friends who loved him dearly lifted in prayer during this incredibly difficult time.”
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help his family.
A funeral processional was held this morning, starting at AUM and ending at Brookside Funeral Home in Millbrook.
