Some sunshine Friday afternoon, pleasant and warm this weekend

Soaking rain and some storms moved across central and south Alabama Thursday night into Friday morning. Rain totals were well over 1 inch in many locations, much needed considering ongoing severe (level 3/5) to extreme (level 4/5) drought conditions across southeast Alabama. However, just about all of the rain departed our area by midday, and clouds gradually break apart Friday afternoon. Temperatures warm to near or slightly above 70°.

Friday night looks a bit cooler, with lows in the upper 40s. Our weekend weather looks wonderful, with sunshine, no rain, and high temperatures in the mid 70s Saturday and Sunday. Each night looks somewhat cool, with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Warm and mainly dry weather continues into next week, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s through Wednesday and a partly cloudy sky each day.

Only minimal chances for rain return late next week. Meanwhile, temperatures could be even warmer Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The chance for rain and storms may rise next weekend, though models continue to show inconsistent solutions for next weekend’s weather. The time change back to daylight saving time occurs next Sunday at 2AM.
