Baptist Health goes blue for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Baptist Health has gone blue and it’s for a good cause.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and the staff at Baptist Medical Center East spent part of Friday helping bring awareness.

The Colon Cancer Awareness Team held a bake sale, sold t-shirts and gave away door prizes while sharing with the public education about the disease and tips on how to prevent it.

Colorectal cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for men under 50 and the second for women in that age group. It is recommended to have start colorectal screenings by the age of 45.

All of the proceeds raised benefit a system-wife effort to raise funds for the fight against colon cancer.
