Faulkner University preparing to host Jazz Festival
Faulkner University is preparing to host its second annual Jazz Festival.
The Swinging Eagles, Faulkner’s own jazz band, has been practicing for the festival.
In addition to the Swinging Eagles, several other bands will perform, including Alabama State University, the River Region Brass Band, the Montgomery Recreators, and many others.
“It’s Music in our Schools Month, it’s Arts Education Month, April is Jazz Education Month, so we’re tying it in together and giving people the opportunity to come and just enjoy it,” Faulkner University Jazz Band Director Michael Bird told Action 8 News. “I mean people say all the time, every time you go out to an interview, they say we just want people to come out, we just want people to enjoy — in this case we are not asking for money, we are saying just come out and enjoy music.”
The free event will be held March 27 at the Tine W. Davis Gymnasium on Atlanta Highway. The festival begins at 4PM and runs until 8:30PM.
