Sunny, dry, pleasant through Saturday; Some storms Sunday night

Friday started rather cold across central and south Alabama, with morning lows in the low to mid 30s. However, temperatures were back in the 60s by midday thanks to abundant sunshine and south to southeast winds. Friday afternoon remains mainly sunny with high temperatures in the low 70s. Friday night looks mainly clear and not as cold, with lows in the mid 40s.

Pleasant, spring-like weather continues into this weekend. Saturday looks mainly sunny with highs near 80°. Sunday looks partly cloudy, and increased humidity by then results in a chance for a few stray showers during the day. Otherwise, Sunday looks very warm with high temperatures in the low 80s. Another strong cold front arrives Sunday night. Ahead of it, showers and storms which move through central and south Alabama late Sunday night/early Monday morning.

On Friday afternoon, the storm prediction center increased the severe risk to slight (level 2/5) across all of central and south Alabama for Sunday night. Uncertainty remains, but at least some storms may be severe, capable of damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes. Check back for updates as details regarding storm timing and intensity become more clear over the weekend.

The cold front pushes through and southeast of our area early Monday. Monday looks like a cold, windy day with high temperatures only in the 50s despite sunshine. Temperatures fall to near or below freezing (32°) Monday night. Tuesday remains winter-like with highs in the 50s and low near or below freezing. After that, temperatures trend warmer with mainly dry weather through the end of the week. Temperatures warm into the 70s for the start of spring Friday.
