They are the Goodwill Ambassadors who have hosted the international officers and their families for the past year.

The student officers come from all over the world to train at Air University.
It’s a total of 225 students and families a year.
For many, adjusting to American life can be a challenge.
That’s where the Goodwill Ambassadors come in.
“For the families, it’s the children coming from a different country, not speaking English, for the first 6-8 weeks its really, really rough for the kids. But it’s amazing how quickly they adapt, and they love their teachers, and usually by the end of the year they don’t want to go home,” said ambassador Peggy Funk.

There were about 50 ambassadors honored with an awards ceremony at Maxwell AFB.
