State Representative Alvin Holmes is under fire for comments about interracial adoption. During a debate over an abortion bill – Holmes declared he’d offer 100 thousand dollars if anyone could show quote – “a whole bunch of whites” who have adopted black children in Alabama. Alabama adoptive families gathered at the State House Wednesday to protest those remarks. They say that they want to show that many Alabamians have adopted children outside of their own race. Those families want an apology from Holmes but he says there’s nothing to apologize about.Â
