Illegal gambling machines seized in Alexander City

Law enforcement in Tallapoosa County seized more than 30 gambling machines during a raid Monday.

Officials with the Alexander City Police Department say that their office, along with the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Dadeville Police Departments, received multiple complaints of illegal gambling a business in the 1400 block of Hillabee Street in Alexander City.

Once officers arrived, they executed a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of 32 gambling machines and a large sum of money.

The machines and money were taken as evidence.

No word on any arrests at this time.

Alexander City police say there have been numerous complaints of illegal gambling at other locations and they say anyone found in possession of the gambling devices could face possible jail time and/or fine.

The Alabama Attorney General’s Office is handling the investigation.
