What The Tech App of the Day: Poolsuite FM

If you like having music on while you work, you’ve probably run into the same problem I have.  It doesn’t always help. Most of the time, it’s the lyrics.

You start working… then suddenly you’re paying more attention to the song than what you’re doing. So I went looking for something different and found an app called Pool Suite FM.

Music that stays in the background
Pool Suite is designed for one thing: music that doesn’t get in your way.
The app describes itself as a “super summer music player,” with curated tracks that feel like you’re sitting poolside. But the real benefit is how easy it is to ignore.

Most of what you’ll hear are:
● Lo-fi beats
● Ambient sounds
● Mellow background tracks

Even when there are lyrics, they’re subtle. Not the kind you latch onto or start singing. That’s what makes it work. Your brain isn’t trying to process words while you’re trying to concentrate.

Different “rooms” depending on your mood
One of the better features in Pool Suite is the ability to switch between different environments. Some feel like a rooftop pool. Others feel more like a quiet lounge. Each one has a slightly different sound, but they all stick to the same idea: stay out of your way. It’s simple, but it works. The vibe matters more than you think

This might sound small, but it’s actually one of my favorite parts.
The app plays a looping video in the background. Archive footage of pools and beaches from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, along with some classic TV commercials from the 70s and 80s. It gives the whole thing a relaxed feel without being distracting. You’re not watching it. But it adds to the experience.

Not just for work
This isn’t just a productivity app.
It’s also great if you’ve got people over and want music playing without taking over the room. No one’s fighting to hear the lyrics. No one’s asking to change the song. It just sits there in the background.

The bottom line
If you want music while you work, the key is simple: Less lyrics. Fewer distractions. Pool Suite gets that right. It’s kind of like having your own poolside DJ. One that knows when to stay quiet.
