TROY, Ala, (WAKA) – CrimeStoppers has named officer Cody Gulledge as Troy Police Department’s Officer of the Year.

Gulledge had been nominated for his heroic actions on the evening of January 11. On that day, Gulledge responded to an emergency call at Rancho Grande Restaurant involving a diner who was choking.

Upon arrival, he quickly took control of the situation and performed the Heimlich Maneuver, successfully clearing the obstruction and restoring the person’s breathing. His calm response, quick thinking and commitment to protecting life exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism, CrimeStoppers said.

Troy Police Chief Danny Barron, who nominated Gulledge, said, “Officer Gulledge’s actions reflect the dedication and service that define the men and women of the Troy Police Department.”
