Man injured in Wetumpka shooting

WETUMPKA, Ala. (WAKA) – Wetumpka police are investigating a shooting that critically injured a man.

Maj. Josh Barfoot tells Action 8 News that it happened Sunday around 11:55 a.m. at a gas station in the 500 block of Coosa River Parkway.

Once officers arrived, they found a 21-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated on the scene by Wetumpka Fire Department personnel before being transported to Baptist South with life-threatening injuries. Maj. Barfoot says the victim is currently in critical condition, but stable at this time.

20-year-old Daveyun Stinson was taken into custody while on the scene and officers recovered the firearm used in the shooting. Stinson has been charged with first degree assault.

Stinson is currently in the Elmore County Jail.
