Pay It Forward: Courtney Green of Montgomery

Pay It Forward Green

Courtney Green of Montgomery has a passion for helping young women.

As a former athlete, she uses her experience to help them through basketball camps and youth sports initiatives. Courtney serves as a role model and teaches them teamwork and perseverence, while also addressing peer pressure and self esteem.

“They need someone they can look up and just kind of give them some experience, some pointers, some advice, about growing up in their teen years because i know how hard it can be,” says Green.

She sets an example for them through her own organization, by holding girls summits, food drives and coat drives, and after school enrichment programs.  Her co-workers say she always brings a positive attitude in everything she does.

“It’s not just about basketball,” says Daniel Veres, who serves as the Montgomery Catholic Athletic Director. “It’s about her life experiences. Our girls love being around her. They love it when she’s up her, they love when her kids are up here, as you can see. They get to see them, as well. So she’s been great for us, and we love her up here. We want to get her up here as much as we can, and when she is up here, great things happen.”

That’s why Stewart Vance with the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to her.

Courtney says she comes from humble beginnings and understands what its like to go without.

“As I got older, I always said I want to help my community and give back in tremendous ways,” says Green. “So it’s just how I grew up and how my family was, they raised me, so it’s just kind of stuck with me.”

And she’s planning to use her $333 to better her students.

“Like now, I’m getting ready to go find uniforms, basketballs, we need a ladder, we need combs, we need everything, so I just want to be able to help them advance to the next level in their life by all means necessary.”

Thank you, Courtney, for all you do to Pay It Forward!
