Severe storms possible Wednesday, more rain through Friday night

Wednesday morning began mainly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. However, some of those showers and storms tapered off prior to midday, with sunshine returning to parts of central and south Alabama. Wednesday afternoon looks partly to mostly cloudy with high temperatures in the mid 80s. More showers and storms develop and move through especially across far southwest Alabama.

Some storms may become strong to severe through Wednesday evening, capable of damaging wind and hail. The storm prediction center places a SLIGHT (level 2/5) severe risk across far southwest Alabama. The rest of our area lies within a MARGINAL (level 1/5) severe risk. The severe risk likely winds down after midnight Wednesday night. However, showers and some thunder remain scattered about through Thursday morning.
