Alabama Kidney Foundation hosts 2026 Montgomery Kidney Walk at DABOS Park
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Alabama Kidney Foundation (AKF) hosted their annual Montgomery Kidney Walk on Saturday.
The event brought out hundreds of people to support local kidney patients. The foundation is a non-profit organization that works within Alabama serving patients in need.
Money raised by the Kidney Foundation goes towards treatment, dialysis, organ donation, transportation, and much more. Hundreds of people came out to support at DABOS Park by walking around the field and donating money to the organization.
“We are so blessed to have so much support from the Montgomery area. We have more team support here than anywhere else in the state. I’m so excited that the Montgomery community really comes together to support their own. The greatest need is right here in this region, and they are showing up to help their neighbors in need,” said Becki Connally, Corporate Community Partnerships Director for the AKF.
“These events are great, but it really doesn’t work unless you have the community here and showing up and being apart of it. I think that’s one of the main benefits, it’s just everybody here and being together, and you can see the support, so hopefully the people that are affected by kidney disease can feel it. Especially, with the money raised, they get some monetary help, hopefully they just feel the community’s support around them,” said Representative for Jim Wilson & Associates, Brian Wilson.
The Montgomery Kidney Walk helped raise over $230,000 this year.
