PIKE ROAD, Ala. (WAKA) – Pike Road Schools has named Dr. Jason Goodwin as its new superintendent.

Goodwin is currently deputy superintendent and director of secondary teaching and learning for the school system. He has held that position since 2024. He came to Pike Road from Russellville City Schools, where he served as a high school principal for five years and as the assistant superintendent.

He is married and has two sons. He will start as superintendent on July 1.

Goodwin replaces Dr. Keith Lankford, who announced his retirement in March after four years of leading the school system. While Lankford plans to resign as superintendent effective June 30, starting July 1, he will take on a new role as assistant superintendent. That is so he can oversee projects including the construction of the new high school, renovations at the intermediate school and new roads for the elementary and high schools.

Once those projects are finished, Lankford plans to retire January 1.
