Man dies after crashing pickup truck into church in Millbrook
MILLBROOK, Ala. (WAKA) – Millbrook police say a man driving a pickup truck has died after crashing into a church and other objects.
Police say at about 5:41AM today, they were called to the 4100 block of Alabama Highway 14. They say the truck had run through the Living Word Church, exiting the rear of the building, struck a truck trailer, continuing into Hometown Small Motors before finally stopping.
They say the driver, 54-year-old Cedrick Langford of Millbrook, was dead.
Millbrook Police Chief PK Johnson says that after speaking with accident investigators, it appears Langford may have experienced some type of medical emergency prior to his vehicle leaving the roadway. According to witness statements and evidence observed at and near the scene, the victim was travelling east on Highway 14, when the truck left the roadway, crossing the parking lot at Colonial Plaza, prior to crashing into the church.
Johnson says Langford’s body was turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science, which will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Traffic Homicide investigators will examine all evidence, to include the truck, in an effort to determine any factors that may have contributed to crash.
