Montgomery commercial building burns in two-alarm fire

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery firefighters have battled a fire at a commercial strip center just off Vaughn Road.

The fire started around 2PM yesterday in the 8400 block of Crossland Loop, which is just off Vaughn Road, between Peppertree Lane and Halcyon Boulevard. Crews found heavy smoke and flames when they arrived.

The intensity of the fire caused it to be elevated to a second alarm, with additional crews and equipment being dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading past the building where it started. No one was hurt.

The Montgomery Fire Rescue Bureau of Investigation is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
