Child flown to Birmingham hospital after shooting in Autauga County

AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A child has been shot in the face in Autauga County.

The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office says it happened yesterday afternoon on Bridge Creek Road, west of Pine Level.

The child was flown to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham for treatment. At last check, the juvenile was in critical but stable condition.

The sheriff’s office says it is investigating to determine if the shooting was accidental. The sheriff’s office says adults need to be sure to secure all weapons especially as children will be at home more often as the school year comes to close. Investigators ask that you keep the juvenile in your prayers.
