Chamber of Commerce hosts small business workshop in Selma

The Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce hosted a workshop Thursday — to help people in the area start and grow their own small business.

Communities Unlimited — was brought in to conduct a small business workshop in Selma.

Waka Entrpreneurship0521 VoThe Arkansas-based — non-profit — gives small business owners the tools they need — to help their business succeed.

Marnell Love in the Area Director for Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

He says adequate funding — and knowing your customer — are two major keys to success.

“That’s absolutely essential for a small business. Because you need to know how many people is going to visit your establishment. And how many people you need to break even on a regular basis,” said Love.

“Most small business start out under resourced and that’s why they don’t make it. We have a lending department, so we’re able to bridge that resource gap.”
