Man arrested in deadly Tallassee double shooting

TALLASSEE, Ala. (WAKA) – Tallassee police have arrested a man in connection to a deadly double shooting over the weekend.

It happened Saturday in the 200 block of Gilmer Avenue.

Capt. Jon Rawls tells Action 8 News that one of the victims, 33-year-old Ronderius Hooks, was taken to Tallassee Community Hospital by private vehicle. Hooks later died from his injuries.

The second victim was later treated and released at a Montgomery hospital.

Capt. Rawls says on Wednesday, members of the police department, along with help of the Montgomery Police Department, arrested 31-year-old Jamario Butler. Butler surrendered himself to law enforcement at his place of employment.

Butler is currently in the Elmore County Jail.
