Widespread rain Tuesday; Inches of rain, flood risk through Friday
It was raining in virtually every location across central and south Alabama at midday. Rain remains widespread Tuesday afternoon, with an overcast sky otherwise. As a result, temperatures only warm into the 70s. Rain may gradually become less widespread Tuesday evening, and our area may dry out for a while overnight. Otherwise, the sky remains cloudy with lows near 70°.
Wednesday’s weather looks more typical for mid-June. With some sunshine outside of daytime showers/storms, temperatures may warm to near 90°. Showers and storms become widespread again on Thursday, as the remnants of Potential Tropical Cyclone One move in our direction. Rain could be heavy at times through the end of this week. A flood watch includes all of our area from Thursday morning through Friday evening. Rain totals may range from 4-7″.
As the remnants of PTC One cut across Alabama, there may also be a risk for brief tornadoes. The storm prediction center places a marginal (level 1/5) severe risk across Alabama Thursday. The circulation moves northeast of our area Friday, but scattered to numerous showers and storms form across central and south Alabama throughout the day.
