MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Workers at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama are presenting a big check to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.

Officials at the assembly plant say that employees raised $14,575 on their own during the company’s annual drive. The plant chipped in another $15,000 to make the total contribution $29,575.

The combined gift will help the Montgomery-based Heart of Alabama Food Bank provide tens of thousands of meals across our part of the state.

“In these challenging times, there are people in great need. The funds that HMMA and its Team Members have donated today will help provide nearly 150,000 meals to people who worry today that they might not be able to eat tomorrow,” HMMA Public Relations Manager Scott Posey said.

Each dollar donated to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank can provide five meals to Alabamians in need, amplifying the impact of every contribution and ensuring essential resources reach families throughout the region.

Hyundai’s Montgomery plant has 4,200 employees and opened in 2005.
