Western Hills Neighborhood Association to hold Autism Awareness Walk

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Western Hills Neighborhood Association is doing its part to help bring awareness to autism in the community.

The association is holding its first ever Autism Awareness Walk on Saturday, June 17 starting at noon at the Western Hills Park on Clarence Lee Drive in Montgomery.

This community event is designed to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), promote acceptance and inclusion, connect families with valuable resources, and educate the public about the unique challenges and strengths of individuals living with autism.

The Autism Awareness Walk will also bring together community leaders, advocacy organizations, healthcare professionals, educators, service providers, families, and supporters in a collaborative effort to increase understanding and support for those affected by autism.

Action 8’s Estee Morrison sat down with DeMarcus Weems to learn more about this year’s walk. You can watch that interview above.
