Man charged in death of 2-year-old child

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police have charged a man in the death of a two-year-old boy.

It happened around 5:10 p.m. on Monday, February 16 when officers responded to a local hospital in regards to an unresponsive juvenile male.

The child, identified as Robert Webster-Lewis, had fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

Evidence concluded that the child’s injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma.

Police have charged 26-year-old Ashico Wells with Capital Murder. He was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility on Wednesday.

According to court records, Webster-Lewis and his brother were in supervision of Wells when it occurred. Wells is the boyfriend of the victim’s mother.

The circumstances remain under investigation.
