Wetumpka man charged with human trafficking in Chilton County

CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Wetumpka man on several charges, including human trafficking.

35-year-old Brandon Barnett has been charged two counts of human trafficking and one count of domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation.

According to court records, on June 23, Barnett knowingly offered $300 to a 17-year-old female for sexual favors. In addition, Barnett also offered $500 to the same 17-year-old for more sexual favors that same day.

Court records also say he attempted to commit the crime of domestic violence by strangulation by hitting and choking that same victim.

Barnett is currently in the Chilton County Jail.
