Pike Road Summerfest celebrates 250th anniversary of U.S. independence
PIKE ROAD, Ala. (WAKA) – Even though we’re still in the month of June, people in Pike Road are getting an early start to the celebrations of America’s 250th birthday.
Last night, families got to enjoy food, games, music and much more at the Pike Road Agriculture, Recreation and Performing Arts Center on Trotman Road.
The night was capped off with fireworks that lit up the night sky.
“Pike Road is so community oriented, and that’s what this is all about,” Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone told Action 8 News. “It is a Pike Road celebration. It’s a celebration where we invite all of our friends from around the region to come, and we have family fun, through fireworks, festivities celebrating America.”
The event was free.
