Alexander City Police: Black bear seen in area
ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Alexander City Alabama Police Department has sent out an alert, warning people of a black bear sighting in the area.
This sighting follows one in Talladega earlier this month.
Alexander City police haven’t said specifically where the bear was seen, but they caution you on what not to do if you see a bear.
The Alabama Department of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries says never to approach a bear or attempt to feed it. Bears are sometimes drawn to neighborhoods in search of food and can be attracted to pet food, grills and garbage.
If you see a bear, remain calm, stay away from it and give it room to leave the area. Notify law enforcement of what you’ve seen.
