Interstate 85 lane closure starts Monday in Macon County

MACON COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – Starting Monday, July 6, be prepared for a lane closure on Interstate 85 southbound in Macon County.

The Alabama Department of Transportation says crews will be making repairs to a damaged bridge over Uphapee Creek at milepost 39 in Tuskegee starting at 7AM.

That milepost is between Exit 42 at Wire Road and Exit 38 at Notasulga Road as you head south.

The outside lane will be closed until repairs are complete. The bridge rail was damaged during a crash on June 17. The contractor expects the work to be completed in two weeks.
